About

Darkest Days is an attempt to bring the study of social problems to the web in an engaging and educational fashion. In the last century alone, countless mass tragedies have befallen human societies, but most people today are not even aware that many of them occurred, let alone contemplated their causes or how they might have been prevented. Unless we understand what precipitated these darkest days in our history, we may yet face darker ones in the future.

Our content is organized into the broad categories you see on the left. Different areas are broken down conceptually as sub-chapters and logical groupings, as in a textbook. The issues are illustrated by case studies which explore the the causes and effects of real historical incidents.  One can join groups to participate in discovering, producing, and organizing content that publicizes and perhaps helps ameliorate a particular problem.  For instance:

Category: Science and Technology

Sub-Category: Industrial Accidents

Sub-Sub-Category: Nuclear Accidents

Case Study: Chernobyl
